Lucky git....girlfriends with a sensible music taste are something of a rarity, especially in these dark days when bands like Razorshite and the Arctic SpunkMonkeys are deemed by many to be "alternative".
I dance to all the wrong songs. I enjoy all the wrong moves...

Sorry - no offence meant. It was more a sweeping observation of the current musical trend.

I just think it's a shame these days that there's a hell of a lot of people (guys AND girls) who seem to think that certain rock bands are "alternative" or punk.....when in actual fact it's usually MTV-friendly (and in the top-40 charts) and making fat cat record company executives lots of money. There seem to be so many bands with a kind of recycled 70's/80's style that doesn't really offer anything new in a creative sense. Taking influences from older bands is fine.....but copy-catting and recycling is pretty piss-poor in my opinion.

Maybe I'm being a music snob? And I'm very wary of sounding like the stereotypical "music was so much better in my day" washed-up old rocker ;)

But seriously, probably since the onset of digital TV, we are now bombarded with choices; to the extent where MTV-2 is considered alternative rock. In reality MTV-2 is just the rockier/heavier aspects of the bands that appear on the normal channels. It only seems to be very late at night that they show truly eclectic stuff.

I'm sure there are loads of girls out there who go beyond the music that's force-fed to them and who like to dig a little deeper......and I would love to meet them!

I forgive you and do understand what you are saying.  MTV 2 does have alot to answer for and so does Myspace because these are catapulting crap bands into the spot light because of blogs etc. Whilst other original bands that have worked hard by continuous touring and meeting their fans take years to get any sort of recognition.

I take my comfort that the scensters (as me and my friend call them - Fringes for males and Dotties for girls) of today will be gone tomorrow and true rock/metal/indie bands will come through and take over the scene again.

;D

Mah, I think it's just a matter of us vs. them guys. No point in getting hung up on trends. I mean, if you look back, we all think that some sort of musical movement was cool. But they all had to fight against "the man."
ome monsters in this game freak me out.........

For those indie and trendy garage toss haters, theres a song by a band called Hadouken! which has genius lyrics about posey indie kids..

That boys a Hoxton Hero,
Skinny fit jeans and dressed in pink,
How he dresses I care zero,
As long as he don't steal my drink.

That girls an Indie Cindy,
Lego haircut and polka-dot dress,
I don't care if she thinks she's indie,
How she's different is anyones guess.

You've got you skin tights, colours on the floor,
With all your white lies, every slut and whore, all the bad boys in your specs and sneakers,
On your back, now it's time to blow the speaker,

I went to a rave and it got real moody,
How can a screwface have a good time?
Was he deprived of his mothers boobie?
I doubt he's lived a life of grime,
I went to a gig but nobody danced,
Everybody was far too cool,
All the kiddies they just stood there,
Is it the same at their public school?

That boys a Hoxton Hero,
Skinny fit jeans and dressed in pink,
How he dresses I care zero,
As long as he don't steal my drink.

That girls an Indie Cindy,
Lego haircut and polka-dot dress,
I don't care if she thinks she's indie,
How she's different is anyones guess.

Follow, Wallow, Swallow (x2)

You've got you skin tights, colours on the floor,
With all your white lies, every slut and whore, all the bad boys in your specs and sneakers,
On your back, now it's time to blow the speaker,

I stay hard like metal,
You could never merk me,
Dirty like skettle,
I kill germs like dettol,
Get mucky,
But I will never settle.

I'm an indie limey,
Yeah but I like it grimey,
And I rave with a grin,
I'm not too cool for the next big thing,
I don't wanna f**k about,
I wanna good time and that's why I'm out,
And you look silly,
When you put on your best myspace pout

That boys a Hoxton Hero,
Skinny fit jeans and dressed in pink,
How he dresses I care zero,
As long as he don't steal my drink.

That girls an Indie Cindy,
Lego haircut and polka-dot dress,
I don't care if she thinks she's indie,
How she's different is anyones guess.

You've got you skin tights, colours on the floor,
