Kerbdog.com site - want everyone to register :)

Post by Phily »

What do you think?
Im thinking of cutting off the site to the browser and make people register. The reason for this is because the Media Section is getting about 10gb downloads a month but the forum doesn't have alot of people signing up and chatting etc.
Do you think it would be a bad idea to make it a member only site thats free to join up?

Well it's your site, Phily. You deffo should do what you feel is right yourself.

However, I always thought it was excellent that the media gallery was open to the entire web as it meant there was a chance that people who had never heard the band could download some tracks and become fans. Or maybe someone who hadn't heard of the band in years might stumble across the site, download a song and fall in love with the band all over again. To me, that's what kerbdog.com is about. Keeping the band's name alive :)

From my experience, some people like to post on forums, some dont like to post but like to read, and others dont post or read. If I'm only interested in downloading some media files, I'm not going to suddenly start posting on the forum because I now have an account. By making it 'registered users only' it may increase the number of registered users, but I think it's unlikely to increase the number of posts on the forum.

That's just my thoughts, bud. Whatever you choose is fine by me :D Cormac Battle:

i think it should be open to the world.
shutting down the media page because of too much traffic would be a shame though... hmmmm...
you're probably right.
still...
