Wilt's first gig...
« on: June 23, 2006, 04:34:31 PM »
Just seen the video for Wilt's first gig, after downloading it.

You know the song that Cormac introduces as "Malachi's last chance" (or something), but then says "We're such a new band I don't even know the names of our songs"...... well, does anyway know what that song is? Is it a cover?

Malachi's Last Chance sounds like a Battle tune, so I'd say it's an original that just didn't make the album or be used as a b-side. It's pretty dull, in fairness.

Poor Mick Murphy just hadn't a clue, did he?  Coming in early/late, playing bum notes etc. He looked embarassed and awkward when Battle was taking the piss out of him towards the end.  :)

I actually found the song very catchy......especially the vocals. That's why I was asking what it was.

Yeah, Mick seemed well out of sorts! At first I thought some of the stuff he was doing must've been deliberate - cos it was so off! But I guess it  must've just been the nerves.

Was he ever a bass player before, or did he just pick it up from scratch when playing for Wilt?

When Battle says "This one's for Evilpinky, I think" before they play "Working for the man", he's being spoken to by Brinepacer (if you read the old Wilt mailing list, you'd know of him) and shouting out to Claire Breslin. That's a REAL bit of Wilt fan history!!
